im going to be fitting a bailey breather to my 2wd cos, does the old kidney breather get thrown away when you fit another breather?also where does the pipe that goes down the turbo side of the engine go to?cheers, lee
Mine retained the kidney box but I also breath from the sump mind you - most breath extra from the cam cover.
The return pipe goes to the sump via the bottom end of the block - you have to plumb it in by removing the blanking nut and add a fitting that takes type of piping that you are using. I usually show folks this pic - its the fitting with the tissue sticking out of it.
you need to retain the metal kidney box that what i have done on mine and the other pie goes to the inlet as marked by the tissue on the photo the one on the left as you look at the photo
I guess it isn't necessary as originally it helped return oil I think?? It has a plate in it to catch drips from what I can see... this is a guess tho - am I correct anyone?
The new system will do the biz without it I'm sure.
I left the original kidney box in but have remove the metal plates with little holes that where in (about 7 pieces). Is this ok or can oil than go to the inlet manifold under certain circumstances?
dont think so,they came out of the plastic bit that sits indide the inlet manifold.i connected onto the metal breather part below that.maybe i have done it wrong!
yeh get rid of the kidney box, not literally, just out of the car. Like stated before, buy one of the block adapters from ebay, and use that instead. I personally have a matt lewis motorsport system with the catch tank. I did away with the breather on the inlet manifold, just capped it off. The car smoked like fuck when that was incorporated in the system.
