Default Viscous coupling noise

What does a viscous coupling sound like, other than expensive, when it is giving up driving the front wheels? I know mine is on the way out but now when I pull away I get a noise like a dry bearing but only when I put the load on it. When I have started moving, like 1 kph, the noise stops. I have been racking my small brains to think what else is turning. I can make it do the noise by applying the handbrake and taking up the drive. I did think of the spigot bearing in the flywheel as it is turning up to the point of taking up the drive. So do viscous couplings make noises, oil level is fine and new and correct.

it won't make any noise at all mate

sounds like the front prop going on what you are describing, get underneath and give it a GOOD wiggle at both ends

I have recently renewed the joints in the front prop, so it's not that. The noise is only when taking up the drive, if I were to put the handbrake on, take up the drive and hold it there it would make the noise for ever except that I would burn out the clutch, but nothing is actually turning. If you have heard an automatic box slip when you put your foot on the brake and throttle pedal at the same time thats what it sounds like.

i'm stumped then

unless it's the actual handbrake cable that's slack and rubbing on the prop?
