225/40x17 the wider the better, at least on the rear with 215/40x17 on the front.

I agree with Tab, however, if you have the same width wheels all-round and own a 2WD I'd put on the same tyre(the 215/40) all-round so you can swap wheels from rear to front (O/S/R tyre to O/S/F; N/S/R to N/S/F and vice versa) . Otherwise you'll be buying new rear tyres every other week.

If its a 2wd i would go 235/40/17 on the rear and 215/40/17 on the front. I have ran this set up for over 18months and the wider tyre on the back really does make a massive difference, funny old thing bigger contact patch = More grip.

If its a 4x4 then 215/40/17 all round or it will fook the centre VC up.

Wide tyres wont wheel spin like a chav everywhere so will last longer as there not getting wasted. Who cares about swaping tyres front to back? Give me extra grip any day of the week. It will cost the same in the long run anyway swapping them front to back.

So now even wheelspin is chavvy? Please....
Anyway, if you swap rears to front, let's every 2 weeks (also to account for the negative camber lowered Sierras suffer from) you will do longer with your tyres. Agreed, eventually you'll need 4 new tyres rather than 2 rear tyres more often. But that's just my opinion and that's what a forum is about, right? Sharing opinions and facts where applicable.

Don't launch/wheelspin etc, and also got a 6° rear beam, so don't suffer from wear on the inner edges, and they wear evenly!

I dont even have a modded beam just some shims and i dont suffer from un even wear. Funny how the 2 people on here who are saying why swap front and backs are the ones who have sorted there alignment issues.

Whats the point in spending ££££££ getting more power if your car doesnt have any grip do to skinny tyres or not botheriing to sort you alignment out?
