my other halfs saff made 370bhp (fly, give or take a couple) and the same torque on a t34 .48 and greens on 2 different sets of rollers, which i believe is flat out on the turbo and the injectors! it certainly drove well though.

for 400bhp, i'd go for:

t38 (so you're not ringing its neck all the time).
2wd head, slightly ported, standard cams or bd10's if you want the power higher in the revs.
4wd plenum.
4wd exhaust manifold.
4wd pistons with cutouts (p mason engineering in maldon, essex do this for £45 a set).
new bearings and cometic gaskets throughout.
greys.
500 cooler.

that combination should give you a bucket load of torque and good response. there's also scope for 450bhp if you wanted to turn the boost up

370 sounds good, must be close to the limit of the injectors at that i guess, off to norris motorsport for them to sort so i guess it will drive better than it does now anyway.

Just bought a RWD Saff Cossie Picking it up friday which is something to look forward to but does this sound right, the spec is:

4WD Engine including inlet
2WD Exhaust manifold
Greys
60mm core 500 Cooler
T35 holding approx. 30psi

Otherwise totally standard engine.
It's got a dyno graph for 395 bhp and 414 pounds of torque. Dodgy rollers or more done to the engine maybe he doesnt know about?
There is 3 other graphs from different places ranging from 375-395.

Sounds about right to me, mine has pretty much the same spec and has 406bhp and 388lb/ft of torque.

Cool thanks.
What head gasket are you on?
And is it long studded?

It is fully long studded and has the wrc 3 layer gasket, it has also had a lot of headwork done, it is limited by the turbo but the gearbox can't take anymore and its quick enough for the road.
