Well done mate for typing all that out. I was gonna say that you had left the 2.0efi sierra GT off the list but they were only on a J/k reg.

hmmmm ford sierra 1.6 38mpg? I find that impossible to believe, unless summat is fucked up with my car

i take it that 1.6 is running the 1.6 pinto engine yea?

My capri runs a 1.6 pinto

Standard everything and a very mint engine it is

but i struggle to get 17 to the gallon

It was probably fitted with the 1.6 "Emax" Pinto engine - it was a special lean burn engine.

EDIT: Yeah - it's listed as 75bhp so that would be the Emax engine.

Dealers couldn't get rid of them. I test drove one in 1990. It was ex-demo, black 2WD. Curry Motors in Surbiton. It had a few hundred miles on it and they wanted around £20k for it. They kept ringing me trying sell it to me (I didn't have a penny to my name) and eventually I told them I'd found one for £16k hoping that would get them off my back. They told me they'd match the price!
