yeah mate cheers but there is a problem, let me explain, the car is like i say a 4x4 and it had a bad missfire so changed the plug and found a lead faulty so decided to change the dizzy and rotor arm as just fitted group a coil so i know it would be right.the thing is when i went to get the new cap it was different to the one on,the one on it and shown in the picture is the one for the 2wd,is this right as when we fitted the new one we noticed that plug 4 doesnt go on as it is obstructed by a bolt on the inlet, and the dizzy cap 4 a 4x4 the connectors point up instead of sideways and the new 4x4 leeads i have got have a 90 bent instead of been straight which makes me think some one has fitted a 2wd setup instead of the 4wd,so i need the order for this style cap, sorry if it is hard to follow i can hardly follow it my self, does this sound right to you? cheers adam

as far as i know all caps are the same mate, its just that some are straight and some are 90 degree. it dont matter if 2wd or 4wd. can you not clean up old cap and fit that

the cap isnt in that bad condition but the rotor arm is cracked and no good so was gunna do both.its just that the lead snapped at the connection to the cap due to the angle it had to be pushed in at to fit because of the inlet bolt, it looks like it needs the straight cap to get by the bolt so i should be able to folllow off the diagram where the leads sholud go as it will still spin and fire the same shouldnt i?

4wd had straight cap fitting 2wd had angled.
it sounds as if the base setting for the dizzy is not in the correct position, so you need only pull it out and turn round to the right(clockwise) a bit, one notch drop back in, you WILL have to wiggle the oil pump drive around a little so it goes in, do this with the TDC mark on the crank pulley at TDC(big notch), the scribe mark on the dizzy body must be central in line with the cetre of the rotor arm, .
Or just get another 4wd cap, even the 2wd are a very tight fit here, near the bolt/nut, I have around 3/4mm between the lead cover and the nut.
If you want to use a 4wd cap the order is the same but, you can immediately see from the cap which lead goes where, the dizzy rotates CLOCKWISE.

hi all, back to original problem, got all the cap back on but having some running problems.the dizzy seems to be getting a build up of charge in it and when you touch it you get a belt,we think this is causing it to missfire so it looks like we goin to have to move it a notch as said above as one of the leads is been pushed down by the bolt on the side of the inlet.is it just as simple as tabetha says or does someone have a guide to how it is done.eg timing it back up.cheers
