Urgent help needed - clutch cable failed
Last night the clutch pedal hit the floor and it seems the cable has failed - being that I need the car, 4x4 Saff Cos, for the weekend, how easy is this to fix/bodge with/without a replacement cable??

I have driven a car for a month without a clutch cable. It's not too difficult. You need to avoid stopping but when you have to stop, as you come to a halt kill the engine and as the revs die slip it into first. Then to start, just turn the key, let the car lurch forward on the starter motor then drive.
To change up a gear, pull the lever out of gear then rev the engine slightly. As the revs fall you'll be able to slot it into gear.
To change down a gear do the same. Pull it out of gear, rev the engine (higher this time) and as the revs fall push it into gear.
Within 10 minutes of driving you'll be fine.

Crap. And crap. Starting in first will not burn out the starter motor. And you'll find you can't get it into gear until the revs are settling because of the synchro mesh. It'll be fine.

Take a look on your clutch pedal.

it's about 9 foot long and goes up towards the rad before curling round
fitting is a bit of a pain but just make sure you loop in the pedal end first

If you are stuck then I have 1 used & 1 brand new genuine ford clutch cables from my car that i won't be using cos I'm converting to hydraulic.
located in sheffield.
you can drive it without the cable but is a pain & if u don't get it roght then it can damage the gearbox & also mounts.
I think the clutch cable from an xr4x4 2litre will fit, best to take it off & go to the motor factors with it to make sure its the right length.
