Sierra Cossie Vs Fiat Coupe 20VT last Sunday on M1
I was on my way to Rockingham last Sunday morning to watch the As Car Racing when I encountered an old whale tale Sierra cossie (who was in a convoy of cosworths) with a massive exhaust on the M1 (Northbound)... I was in a convoy with a mate who was some 150ms behind. We both drive silver Fiat Coupes 20VTs and into the gap between us the cossie 'strayed'.
We were already travelling at about 110 and the Cossie came up fast behind obviously wanting to play. I floored the gas whilst fumbling for my boost controller and cranked up the BEEF. The cossie held firm behind me till about 150 at which point the cossie emptied the entire contents of his sump through his exhaust. He then pulled away sheepishly and dwindled from view heh heh.
So was it anyone here having a bad day?

LOL yes, agreed I would have been straight to the hard shoulder myself. I just thought it would make the story a little more entertaining.
My car has been mildly tuned. Running about 265bhp / 265lb/ft torque... all through the front wheels

As for tuning.... unfortunately the tuning scene is still very new and there arn't that many things available. However, there are a few coupe owners now who have got their cars running 400-500bhp / 400-500lb/ft torque with a max speeds of 200mph+.

Yep everyone seems to have a problem with Fiats. But in reality the Fiat Coupe is very good, massively fast and so far very reliable.
I was in my mates coupe last night and we happened upon the Purley Way cruise. We ended up getting behind a Sierra Cosworth who wanted to play. We obliged and from 0-70mph there really was no difference in power and having looked at the performance stats it looks like the Coupe would have had the edge if we had been prepared to go any faster. Not bad for a Fiat

I'm not surprised that a Fiat Coupe can stick with a Cosworth. Even a Rover with the T16 2 litre turbo engine can give a stage 1 or 2 cossie a scare. Vauxhall's Calibra Turbo with phase 2 or 3 is match. Toyota's MR-2 Turbo and Nissan's Pulsar GTi-R and 200sx are also more than capable of handing a Cosworth it's a** on a plate with just the original 4 cylinders.

i must admit i do like the fiat coupes and they are quite cheap i have seen a lot of the 20v turbos going for less than 4k whats the 0-60 top speed etc

0-60 is about 6seconds. Its difficult to get less than this. Even the guys running 400lb/ft torque, only get into the low 5seconds. This is simply because it is front wheel drive and in first and second gear its difficult to get the traction down.
Where it comes ito its own is in 3rd gear. It hits 100mph (still in 3rd gear) in 14seconds.

I'd like to race one actually, i drove past one at brunters but wouldn't mind a blast against a decent one...... err, one that can out accelerate a 350bhp pulsar to 60................. top 160...............lose traction in 4th..................do 4sec 0-60.................... then he would win.
They are actually quite nice looking though, love the sound aswell!!

Fiat Coupe's are nice cars. A friend of mine has a nice one with a 270-280 bhp engine. The car is really quick and handles quite good.
Last month we drove with his Fiat on the highway, when a 1990 spec Toyota Supra (with ??? bhp) had a play with us.
From 80 km/h up to 160, the Fiat was slightly faster, above 160 km/h, the Supra was faster.....until his engine blew, leaving us in a nice blue cloud of smoke
My Cossie is faster than my mates Fiat tho

Hi
Had race a short while back with a 20v turbo fiat, and just pulled up behind it and let it go and pulled up to its bumper again and kept doin that till I let it go at 130mph, not bad car I guess but needs some more power
