Ok... Oldie but like I said, thought I would turn my hand to making a set myself. Now I have seen some really impressive carbon work on PF and it has inspired me to get crackin'
Rather than make a one-off for each mirror I am making a positive to take a mould off. Then I can cast them up in carbon or glass and paint. I'll see what happens.
Started off like this...
No... its not a loaf of sour dough bread!! It is a lump of expandable foam I made up from a 2 part solution. Awesome stuff!!! The possiblities are endless!!! 100ml of this goo poured in a letterbox and by the time it sets in like 5 minutes its 15 times the size!!
This is a little avanced and misses out the shaping and filling stages. (I have missplaced the pics ) I have trying to take the mirror shape from the WRC cars. So smooth and clean!
Pics on the car. They are only tacked on with double sided tape for the pics at this stage and still require a little shaping on the back the fit the alloy back plate I have also made.
So there ya go. I have played with moulds and fibreglass a little before so I am not running totally blind!! See how they come out!
Stay tuned!

Thanks guys. They are coming along just nicely
Dan its a Sparco R353 suede wheel. Very nice feel to it and the flat bottom helps my legs get past it... I dont think they had 6"3's in mind when they designed the Sierra!!!
