Default ABS Problems

When i pull up to a junction the ABS seems to make a funny sound almost like its coming from the pump...

Then the pedal drops from beneath your foot but the brakes still work just feels weird, then the pedal pumps back up and you can hear more weird noises from the pump untill you stop

It clears and then after a driving again does it the next time you come to a stand still.

Any help will be great...

Kindest regards

Take all 4 sensors out and clean the metal face where the bolt sits refit and it should be OK.
The sensors are fragile so be carful on removal.
I have had to do this a few times over the last 15yrs of ownership.

There is another cause but that needs an auto eletrican and leads to a bill LOL

Hi,

If this only happens at low speed and no ABS light coming on it could be you have a damaged abs hub ring!

You will have to check each one very carefully for a small crack or tooth missing.

it's a very common problem that is a speed mismatch from front to rear sensors. almost guaranteed to be cured by what ozcos has said, although it's usually only the fronts that give problems

Could this also happen if the rear tyres have a larger diameter than the front? (215/40/17 front, 225/45/17 rear)

Cheers,

i guess that it could. don't know how far out that they would have to be though. why, have you got that problem with those tyre sizes?

if the pedal drops it;'s more likely to be a pressure problem

a change of fluid is the more likely solution (but if the other way works it's fine too )
