Default Apexi Active Tailpipe Silencer **SOLD**

I have for sale an Apexi Active Tailpipe Silencer. Here is what Apexi say about it.......

The Apexi Active Tail Silencer features an anti-pressure response valve to decrease exhaust volume. The 'Active' Tail Silencer opens as the pressure increases to provide free high flowing exhaust flow when power and torque is required but reduces volume through restriction during times of low pressure. These features help to reduce noise when required but not hinder performance when desired.
Features
- Automatic valve operation based on pressure from vehicle
- Inner structure reduces exhaust resistance with high revolution
- High quality iconel spring used for superior heat resistance.
- Ball plunger type valve
You simply slide it into the tailpipe, make a single hole to hold it in place (to line up with the hole in the Apexi Silencer), one bolt to hold it. Done! It quietens the exhaust down no end. We have tested these to 400bhp with no power loss, but I used mine purely for journeys and day-to-day running (HONESTLY, I'd say my RST was quieter than our Clio at motorway speeds with it in!!). It really takes the drone out of the exhaust noise. Taking it out when I wanted all-out noise/power, just one M6 bolt to remove it, takes 30 seconds. You could have it in for the journey to a show/event, but take it out once you arrive.

The outside diameter of it is approximately 86mm, but I had an Alloy sleeve made allowing it to fit perfectly into a 4" Mongoose Tailpipe (97mm ID). It will fit into any exhaust with an internal diameter of either 86mm or 97mm. Or you could have a sleeve made to suit if you have an exhaust of a different diameter.

£95 plus postage.

Alloy sleeve is included. It's ready to fit. I don't want to take any less for it. I'd rather have it sitting around, one of the Jap guys will have it.

AFAIK, they are about £150 new (obviously without the modifications) and hard to get in this country.

This could be handy for trackdays, would you say it reduces the static db level by much in reality, i.e 4,500rpm that the cars are usually tested at, as my car's usually right up near the limit especially at strict tracks.
Cheers
Dave

Dave,

I never really tested it as for me it was more to get rid of the pesky Mongoose drone. Mine was its worst at 80mph and quietened down at 115mph!! LOL. Obviously thats no good for motorway driving! Not that I did loads of that!

Saying that, on the way back from Santa Pod one day last year, I removed it with the car sitting there idling and the difference was shocking!!

retracted due to not wanting to harm any potential sale.

I think the inner part is loose of the outside... You can see it in the 2nd photo. If you hit it hard it will push it forward and allows alot of flow

I think that's how it works, but just a guess! but i'm looking forward using this haha

As Red bull says, it has a small bore through the centre, enough to flow for low power, then when you hit the GO pedal, centre part is pushed off its seat allowing a much larger diameter.

It's hard to say whether my car felt slower with it in, it was SO much quieter that of course it seemed less brutal. We did dyno a 400bhp 200sx with one of these, 2 back-to-back runs, not even 1bhp in it.
