YB Cosworth Engine 465BHP/440LB Geabox, clutch and flywheel open to Offers
COSWORTH YB ENGINE
It is with great regret that I have to sell the crown jewel from my MK2 escort build, unfortunately due to ill health and mobility issues I have to abandon the build of my dream car. I bought the engine from a friend as a standard engine ready to build in to a fire breathing monster that my MK2 deserved. The engine was sent to Bob Vince who is an ex Holbay race a development engineer who helped pioneer the 16v head for the pinto and worked on numerous touring car engines throughout the golden years in British touring car racing from the lotus Cortina up to the RS500s. once he received the engine he dismantled in readiness to start the build process. The engines history was rumoured to be with Mountune through an engraving on the head which remains, also to back this up once opened a fully polished and lightened and balanced crankshaft was found along with a set of custom MAHLE forged pistons which were also thermocycled.
engine spec:
205 block honed
Mahle forged pistons
Shot peened and polished rods
7.6.1 compression
Cosworth bearings
Total seal piston rings
EN40b mountune crank fully polished (standard journal)
Rotating assembly fully balanced
Lightened and balanced fly wheel
Mountune Gated and baffled big wing sump
High pressure oil pump
Head ported and worked to RS500 touring car spec
Cams ground to custom profile
3 angle valve seats
Bronze guides
Inlet and exhaust ported to match head
Swedish inlet manifold
Shortened exhaust manifold to suit larger turbo
Ex hill climb T4 turbo machined rear to .70 F1 shaft Sourced by Field Motorsport
Grey injectors
P8 Ecu
Wasted spark
Boreham developments Anti lag
Field Motorsport WRC spec loom
Machined throttle body
WRC cam sensor
ARP head studs and rod bolts
Engine comes with T5 Tremec Gearbox that has covered 18,000 miles only AP twin plate clutch (250miles) and lighten Flywheel
The spec list above does little to reflect the time and effort that has gone into this engine (especially the head) After Bob was finished Engine has been run in and mapped on the dyno By Tommy Field at Field Motorsport to which it made a conservative 465bhp and 440ftlb of torque which we agreed was plenty for a MK2 escort!
Please bear in mind these Engines are getting rarer by the day almost, and even rarer to find a turnkey example with such pedigree.
This was the Last full race engine Bob built before retiring and in his words swansong.
Thanks for looking!
