hi. ive just broken a rear leaf spring on my 2001, escort 55 van on the lovely bumpy roads here in cambridgeshire. this may be a daft question, but will the springs off of a 75 van fit ok and will they be any better than replacing the 55s

 

the 75 springs are stronger rated and will fit and be better

 

thanks for quick reply. will get looking for new springs in morning. do you know if ride height is altered or will it be the same

 

it is just the weight the springs are rated for thats all

 

after changing springs, somebody has noticed the van sitting lop sided. when i measured from floor to top of arch there is a 1inch difference. does this mean shocks need changing or is it something more serious.the shocks can be easily pushed all way in with one hand and they do look well past their best. the wheels also seem off centre. one side has about 1.5 inch clearance from body. but other side is almost touching bodywork

 

i asume you did change both rear leaf springs with a pair from either the same doner vehicle (matching set) or new.

 

got them from scrap yard. he said they were from same vehicle.
