Default Injector leak off test.

Hi. I'm planning on doing a leak off test on my TDCI injectors. Just wondering before I buy anything. Can the test be done 1 injector at a time or have all 4 got to be done at once? Thank you for any advice that can be given.

All 4 are done at the same time to compare levels.

Cheers for that. Just wondered if I could do each one separately and compare each level at the end. Just trying to do it on the cheap really. Buying bleed off plugs bottles and tubes and something to blank off the pipes is adding to the costs. I'm planning on doing 1 injector at a time you see. Start with the worst one. Or the one that leaks the most.

Just done my leak off test. Cylinders 3&4 filled a 200ml bottle in less than 2 mins at tick over. Needless to say I think they could both be knackerd. 1&2 went over 30ml each so I think they're both not so good either. How easy is a injector change?

You need a special socket to undo it, it's a deep 21mm with a cut-out.

(Unless you remove all the injector pipes and the cam cover then they can be removed with conventional spanner)

Recommended to replace the high-pressure pipes.

New '0' seals that goes into the cam cover.

If you change injectors they need re-coding to the car, there's a 16 digit code on the injector that has to be inputted as an 'injector correction factor' using diagnostic equipment.

Yeah. Ta for that. Meant is it as easy as literally pulling one out and screwing in a new one. Or is there lining up of plugs and stuff. Just don't know if I should attempt it myself. I have the tools the f super. I know it's to be a stone cold engine. Cheers.

The hexagon part of the injector spins on the body so you have to make sure the centre is lined up so the pipe and electrical connector is pointing straight ahead.

Remember the injector should have a copper washer on it, sometimes they get left in the head when you remove the injector.

If one is left in there a phillips (medium size) screwdriver knocked into it can fetch it out.

They can be tight so make sure you have a long breaker bar or whatever to undo it.

Do you have the tool to clean the injector seat in the head? It looks like a drill cutting bit, The 1300 cdti engine needs it to be done all the time as the copper rings blow by

Cheers fellas. Starting to sound a bit complicated now. I don't have or know about the seating tool.i May just let a garage do it. Don't like giving them my hard earned tho if there is a chance I can do it myself. There's a Delphi diesel place not too far from me. I'll get a quote. Only gonna do two at a time tho. The two worst ones first. 3&4,

Never had that problem on the 'puma' engines as fitted to Mondeo/Transit, and I've fitted a lot of injectors to them over the years.

The little 1400/1600 DW French diesels as fitted to Fiesta/Fusion/MINI and all sorts of French shit have a tool that's like a T handled wire brush that goes into the injector hole to clean it out when they have suffered blow-by.
