Tdic 2.2 st
Hi well I just got a mondeo 54 plate silver 2.2 st 155 hp car is very good condishion and so cheap 300 pound
But..........my mate drive it in a flood and locked it solid. I removed the intercooler pipes and got a washing up bowl of water out removed the glow plugs and slowly turned it over on the crank with a bar it turned over ok so flicked the key and removed all the water from the cylinerd, put it back together and it started up
it sounds ok but there is a very slight missfire and more smoke out the back than i have ever seen so it has pobley bent a rod
So do I repair this engine or get one of the bay

Well I left it running last night for a hour and it started it idle less lumpy so went for a drive to get some temp in to it and guess what the smoke has stopped and it drives well power is good too
so changed the oil and left it over night, popped down this morning and started the car and the smoke was back but not as bad
Drove the car 15 miles and no smoke?
but the old owner has told me that it has smoked for a few minutes before it went in the water
Could it be an injecter problem ?but no engine management light on and no smoke after 2 minutes of running
Think i'll get it compression tested first
What do you all think

Ive seen worse - run it how it is & just make sure you have your clean washing off the line before you start it!
you could try an ECU reset - sometimes helps (watch you don't loose your radio code)

If you've sucked up some water then you will have bent a rod - it's a very high compression engine! It's a clever car though and it can compensate pretty well for a bent rod!
Injectors don't really 'leak' as such, but they can smoke first thing for various reasons. If it's a load of smoke and sounds like a tractor, then it's one or more injectors. But if it puffs out a lungful of smoke and soon clears it's pointless tracking it down. I had brand new injectors, a new pump, rebuilt turbo, no EGR valve and it still smoked first thing!
