hi guys im doing a little xr2i project but its got some evil looking rust on the sills wot is the best way to handle it can any1 help???? cheers

 

If possible, treat the rust then weld a patch over it but if not you can always buy replacement sills from a motor factors

 

work out best and easier to replace not a hard job, but worth in the long run and come mot time.

i had a 1992 K plate pacifica blue xr2i 16v when it was only 3 years old, and guess what ,, it had to have 2 new sills and a nearside rear wing cos they had gone completely rotten - you could literally push your fingers through them, luckily the 6 year anti perforation warranty covered the work, but i thought, never im never buying a mk3 festa again, a 3 year old car FFS with that much rot !!! i'd hate to think how bad they are now, another 9 years down the line

 

My G plate's bodywork is solid all round
