Yes mate you need the ECU, key as they have a chip in and the transponder (the bit around the ignition) fella you might as well get the other locks to or build the wards inside the locks on your car to match the new key you get, the key number tells you what wards you need the keys are easy to red like T1234 etc hope that solves it

Thanks for reply. No never done anything like this before, Have had loads of problems with this car (See other threads) and really cant afford to spend much more on it. I have the choice of getting ecu off and send it back to where it was mended last time, get a scrap ecu and try and get it fitted or scrap the car and get something else cheap untill I can afford something better.

Local garage are telling me you have to remove whole dash to get it out and want to charge £200 for it.

Just dont know what to do and its getting me down. Need a car for work but cant afford much. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Would be crazy to remove the whole dash just to get to the ECU? Don't know anything about the ford ka but it sounds wierd to me. But i geuss you will have to have the key and ECU. As said the key has a transponder in it.

Have you had the kick trim off in the drivers foot well? The ECU may be there, seems strange it being behind the dash.

Also you don't need the aerial, this merely reads the transponder and is not tied to a specific car.
