Default Ka chassis repair opinions

Hi all. I have recently bought an old Ka which has had a repair done to the rear chassis leg above the exhaust where it had corroded through and the end of the chassis leg had been ripped off the car by the weight of the exhaust. This is the repair that the previous owner has done and I just wondered whether it is ok or whether I should do something about it before its next MOT. It is absolutly solid, I had all my weight on it and it didn't budge so I'm thinking it is OK? Opinions welcome!

I would say it's not a continious weld so a fail i'm afraid.

Thats a bit of a pain. Especially as I am pretty sure this is now the strongest part of the car!

I agree with james as it not a continuous weld its a mot failure. Underseal plastered n really really thick hides a multitude of sins

The thing is, the area that has been repaired is not a prescribed area ! Therefore, this would pass a mot test.

Correct that is more than 30cm from any prescribed areas so in reality it would pass with body filler and newspaper

you could ask a friendly MOT man to check it and give an opinion, and then get it modified if needed, would only need a welder i guess

Id put a little run of seam sealer along where it's been plug welded just to prevent moisture ingress then put a bit of underseal back over it.
