How much do you call a 'lot of petrol'?

What is your average mpg? Mine gets 25mpg, and it was about the same when it was standard.

its a 2.5 5 cylinder Turbo, so it aint gonna be great. Mine does 23 mpg and maybe stretches to 25-26 if i do a few long runs. I have heard people getting as low as 18's and 19's but have never seen that on mine.

If you have just got it, try and pull the KAM fuse for 10 mins which wil clear out all the fueling info stored on the ECU, then it will start a fresh, learning your driving style. This may help a little.

Other stuff like air filters, tyres, wheel alignment and tyre pressures will all effect an already poor average mpg figures.

Depends what your after if you want decent performance buy a diesel. I'm buying one next week as i miss my old mk1 rs. Done the mondeo tdci zetec s, and boring. Best of both as it's a five door, practicle and quick.

Don't worry what people think mate. Your car your taste, DV's are a bit Marmite. I have one fitted purely as i love the sound,.

I get any where from 18-26 round town, long motorway run at 65-70 get about 32-34.

How are people getting such bad MPG figures?
My Dad's got a V50 T5. Same engien but in a heavier car. He can never get less than 25mpg out of it and averages 30mpg town/motorway and he dosen't really hang about either.

The Volvo T5 and Ford T5 are different engines. Not much is similar apart from 5 cylinders.

i can confirm this, my ST just turned 103,000 miles fsh etc, cracked liner piston 3, catastophic water loss and mixture in engine just happened one night, plus my car is standard, new engine and turbo last week just done 200 miles all seems fine, but defo a weak point, miss my frs mk 1 had no problems at all with that bullet proof and over engineered, got this to accomodate our new baby, i purchased from a dealer so he footed the bill this time, but defo put of by the set up, dont want to boot it now
