p0136, p0141, p1518 plus other problems
Hello All
I have recently bought a 54 plate ST170, 87k fsh all old mot's and receipts for work.
It has code p0136,p0141, p1518. I know the p0136 and p0141 relate to the post cat lambda sensor and the p1518 relates to the Inlet manifold control runner.
I have put a K&n panel filter in and this has somehow got rid of the p1518 code after a bit fiddling with the throttle mechanism, (maybe I knocked something free) .
my question is, going off the mileage of the car would it be reasonable to assume that the cat is at fault for the two other codes, I say this as it has lambda sensors replaced before. could the cat be at the end of its life?
I also have a slight oil leak which seems to be coming from the sump plug, I check the oil regularly and its bang in the middle of the dipstick. or could it be coming from somewhere else.
Also got the heatshield rattle on the cat, tried strapping it up with cable ties but the bolts on the cat have completely rusted through the heatshield. If I remove the heatshield will it damage any of the components above it?
None of these problems seem to affect the performance of the car, I'd just like to get it running sweet as I think its a very well looked after car by the previous owners (2).
Im loving the car and its performance, rattles and all, but they are just annoying
Any advice would be most appreciated
Thanks
Marc
