Default St170 vernier exhaust pulley

I'm thinking of fitting a vernier pulley to my exhaust cam when I change my cambelt, I've heard that I should expect to gain bhp, but lose low end power, how much am I going to lose? Is it that noticeable? Is it worth changing?
Thankyou

Also is there a definitive 'how to' guide for changing the belt, as there is no Haynes manual or any equivalent.
Thankyou

iv done mine and its retarded 6degrees. its rumoured to gain upto 10bhp and i wouldnt argue with it cos it feels good. i would say it feels a little slower under 2000rpm but after that i dont notice it.

definately worth doing.belt change is same as 2.0 zetec in focus manual

Another question, when loosening the cam pulleys, are you meant to drain the oil from the inlet pulley? Because when I undo the centre bolt it starts pouring out. Thankyou

why are you undoing the inlet?? its the exhaust side you should be changing? dont mess with the vvt pulley unless you have good reason?

Everywhere says to slacken both pulleys before tensioning the belt. I have fitted the new belt and exhaust vernier, but after a short test drive the EML came on. I figured it was because I didn't loosen the inlet because I didn't want to mess up the vvt.

I v heard some say that but I didn't on mine and it's fine. If the cams and crank are locked it should be ok shouldn't it.? Is your ok now though or is eml the Vvt?

I just slackened off both cam pulleys and tightened them back up, light gone. Running smoothly.
