Default New shape focus ST

anyone got one, driven one etc?

been trying to get hold of rob@scc as he has one but he's not in the office.

there are some good deals to be had on these with ford at the moment and considering chopping in the 530d for something more modern.

why not go to your local ford dealer and take one out for a good thrashing - this is the best way to find out if it puts a big grin on your face!

Driven a couple of them, they are really good cars and under rated IMO. They are even quicker then they feel as well, and they feel pretty lively, too. Although one I drove had horrendous torque steer - think something must have been up with it.

Supposed to be the best selling hot hatch of this year I read, but I haven't seen that many about.

Think they ruined the orange colour though.

Doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the mk2 ST orange.

I driven a brand new one that had 8mls on the clock. They go quite well for standard and are better in standard form than the T5 powered one. On the test drive i was lucky enough to get to take it down some back lanes and i was very impressed with it. The induction noise they make is a bit odd though.

Chris Harris seemed to like it, as a car to own rather than the quicker (on track) other pair.

A lot of the reviews I've read / seen seem to hammer them for torque steer ! :/ a lad I know had one and had to have it replaced as ford couldn't fix it when it went wrong apparatley . No faults with his new one though. The more I look at em the more they grow on me ! Appearance pack with grey alloys and red calipers and rear tints look spot on ! as stated try and bag yourself a go in one mate

I know it's a late reply but I've just bought the ST-3
Initially was after a 2010 RS focus, ford sales chap advised otherwise why pay 20k plus for a 4/5 year old car? Told me the new RS is out late 2015 early 2016.
Asked if I was interested in the ST on the forecourt
Wasnt sure of its looks!
Took it for a test drive, worked out some figures low and behold I now have one in performance blue and full luxury pack
It's a quick machine, comfy and not in your face. It's doing 35.5 mpg which is pretty good, of course it's not been driven hard but as with any hot hatch, floor it and it will drink like a fish
No faults to report as yet but I have found and learned to be careful, throw it into a corner and steer too sharp it will throw you/under steer
It's nice and stiff usually but cornering the steering goes light. Can't seem to find a setting to stiffen it up a bit
Very low turbo lag, almost instant boost.
I think if I was to push it the back end will be tail happy, it's all good and well on top gear where they can throw cars about but in reality on pot hole roads and traffic not very bright if it was to be driven like that and should imagine a very expensive repair bill and possible driving ban!!!!
If it was AWD it would be awesome, ford need to really look into this and I've been told by a reliable source the new RS 'might' be AWD
On the basis of that I've put my name down for one
Also they are going to be 3 door. Well why not? No wife, no kids and no mortgage. Sounds sad but hey, I'm happy.
Life too short, mulling over 'if I had of, I could have, should have'

Ford have said 5 door and FWD. But there were rumours of the rear wheels being electric motors hybrid system. Fuck knows how much that would cost!

When I worked at Performance Ford magazine a year or so ago I was able to have a good long chat with the some of the guys on the RS Division at Ford, including a very interesting guy in charge of chassis development. He told me that with how well they can get FWD Focus to handle power now there is no point in doing 4WD, and round a track a vast majority of drivers would not be able to tell the difference or go any faster.

Based on that I very much doubt Ford will ever do a 4WD RS again, but you never know!
