yes the standard is stainless. its just the silencers appear to be better quality than the pipe. most standard pipes appear very rusty but as far as i know theres poor quality stanless hidden underneath

what miles is your car done and is the exhaust still one peice from cat back. to remove them you have to drop rear subframe or cut them off. if its high miles and still one peice chances are its stainless cos i doubt it would last 100k if it wasnt. also ford claimed it was stanless and judging by the fact its build through the subframe and a massive job to remove i dont think they intended it to rot. replacments are usually 2 peice

Mines done 65k. I'm replacing it with an exhaust any way but I wonder why mine didn't have one. Previous owner must of replaced it or something then.

is it one peice?? if so it may be standard. i cant see anyone removing subframe to fit new one. i bought one with 109k and it was factory exhaust so chances are you have factory too. theres different grades of stainless and to cut cost i think some are not as pure stainless as they should be. they start of rusting in spots and over a few years they are covered but doesnt corrode through like normal steel. just because its rusty dont think it didnt start out as a stainless.

Yeah true, didn't think it could just be bad quality stainless. I will have to get the car on a ramp. But I've learnt something today at least never had a car with a full stainless steel exhaust as standard, normally just the tip
