Default 2002 ST170 problems starting

Hey guys

A week ago I picked up a 2002 Focus ST170 from a mate of mine who has had it 5 years problem free..

Yesterday morning I went to go out and she refused to start.
I had no break down cover so paid £200 to get AA which offers 1 home call out but for the remaining year you have to be at least 1/4 mile away from home??

Anyway, she was turning over, battery strong etc but not firing.
Turned out to be a faulty crank shaft sensor which I have orderd to replace shortly. It has been working since after a bit of a clean and a wiggle of the excisiting sensor.
Been using it today. Popped in my house for 5 mins (turned the car off/locked etc) - went back out and the battery was dead as disco... nothing... Jumped started it and we are back in the game.. but for how long?

Surely after not having a battery issue for at least the last 5 years, it doesnt just die within a few mins and after running it..!?

A coincedence and just needs a new battery or something jogged from yesterday looking around by the AA man to find yesterdays fault..?

Cheers for any advice!

Rob

You're wrong about that. Have seen it several times in multiple vehicles.
It is possible when the battery is almost dead.
Get the battery and alternator tested.
