hi folks, does anyone have an opinion on powder coating alloy wheels?, i've heard some bad storries from other forums but never heard of any problems 1st hand, cheers steve

 

Nothing wrong with it? Been doing it for years with no problems.

 

that's what i wanted to hear, a friend of mine said there was a big hooha on the honda forum about the heat from the oven weakening the alloy,

 

Yeah it does seem to be doing the rounds at the moment. Appears to be how they remove paint etc during prep stage by baking too high a temp. Or if they have been powdercoated numerous times. It appears that acid dip and shotblasted is the acceptable way of doing it right. Considering how many failures, compared to how many have been done, it appears that the risks are very minimal.
