Yeah it does seem to be doing the rounds at the moment. Appears to be how they remove paint etc during prep stage by baking too high a temp. Or if they have been powdercoated numerous times. It appears that acid dip and shotblasted is the acceptable way of doing it right. Considering how many failures, compared to how many have been done, it appears that the risks are very minimal.
