Default new guy with a 170

Hi all.

Thought id introduce myself.

Im Dave, 28 from derbyshire and picked up a focus st 170 on Friday.

1st ipressions are great, love the colour. Havent been able to drive it properly yet because of the weather. Its a lot different to my mg thats for sure. Love the interior too.

Im a petrol head and ford lover, owned a few over the years and its nice to be back in one.

Any way a few pics for you all. Im hoping to attend a few meets and get to know u all. Want to go to ford fair too. Be good to get to know u all. Had a good look round and seems a nice place to be.

Few pics of the car

The reason it hasnt been for a proper drive yet

Plans are to keep it as standard as possible but with a couple of mods.

Mongoose exhaust, K n N filter and a bluefin.

Theres a small mark on the rear bumper to take out and one of the alloys are corroding and after reading round i understand thats quite common?

Any way enough from me.

Looks good mate ! I used to have an imperial blue 3 door one ..... all 4 of my alloys corroded not long before I got rid of the car , my plan was to get them powdercoated black , But I ended up with a newer focus !

Hopefully the snow fooks off so you can have a proper drive of it soon ! , mine used to feel best between 5-7000rpm , keep it in that band and they go well

enjoy the car mate

good choice of car. looks nice too. think your radio is not original 6 disc though. the 6 disc are prone to problems though where the motor keeps running inside and drains battery so maybe they swapped cos of that.

expect flickering dash lights when driving at night. very common on all 170s.
they do have a fair few common faults as with other cars so any issues im sure you will get help from here.

Cheers for the welcome

This colour is definitely one of my fave ford colours.

The flickering dash ive noticed already. From what i gather its the dash brightness control switch thats causing it? A new one is needed?

Already ordered a pioneer head unit for it and new ford mats to keep it clean.

Theres a company just down then road from me that will powder coat the wheels for 65 a corner so going to wait until they all need doing and do them silver. Also going to need new centre caps at some point i think.

If you don't mind a drive to Birmingham, I had my spare alloys done at this place and they turned out great:

www.citypowdercoating.co.uk

Ł20>Ł30 a corner depending on what finish you want.

Yep I just ended up leaving it mate - I used to turn the brightness down on the dimmer switch iirc which fixed it for a few days but it always returned lol,
