Default 'Clunk' Noise

Hi guys,

Been sent your way by Dal. for a bit of technical knowledge as to what this noise could be.

I had my clutch changed at the weekend on my Focus ST225 (300bhp) and immediately after I have been experiencing a clunk noise if I am a bit harsh on the clutch, I believe it to be a drive shaft. Race Plus made it clunk quite easy in low gears coming on and off the boost so I have put a more prgressive map on and it has helped a bit.

Going back to the garage is not an option (If you know why please do not say anything yet) but I was just wondering if anyone knew what could be causing it and why. Would it be related to the clutch change? Do drive shafts generaly go straight after having a upgraded clutch fitted? Or has something worn away somewhere and needs looking at?

From a quick google I have found the following but not sure what they mean:

Worn U-Joints
Slip Joke Problems
Spline Tolerance at the gearbox

Cheers all!

Look for loose or broken parts if you hear a clunking sound. The clunking sound could be caused a broken or loose bolt that holds the brakes together. Inspect the nuts and bolts. Worn or broken parts of the suspension system may also cost clunking sounds. Any number of worn suspension parts can produce vibrations that result in a clunking sound.

Theres a vibration at 70mph through the steering wheel too, if that aids it.

Just seems odd it only started to happen after the clutch was changed.

Noises associated with clutch problems are difficult to diagnose because the sounds can mean many different things. If you hear chirping or squealing when you use the clutch, have it checked. When squealing or chirping starts or stops whenever you press down the clutch pedal, then there is a good possibility it is a worn or damaged release bearing or pilot bushing. Other problems that accompany this noise include problems with a worn release fork, input shaft or improper installation of the friction disc. Other noises, such as growling when the pedal is engaged, are also signs of trouble.

Hello! I'm not an expert in all this yet, but I'm interested in such questions. I esteem your opinions, I think it will come in handy.telltractorsupply
