You've got moister getting in the motor somewhere mate! Check your carpets and see if their damp. Have you had thr interior valeted recently and it's not dried properly. If not, you likely have a leak somewhere... Try running your air con constantly, at normal temps I.e. warm and it sucks moisture out of the air. Hopefully it's an easy fix mate

You're not using the recirculate function are you? Check the pollen filter isn't wet too.

Thanks guys got a new pollen filter the other day actually to fit before I knew of the problem, missus came home from work today and said the heat was coming out when on number 2 pressure but when on number 4 it blasts out.

Could it be a fuse? Or is it more serious?

If its a Mk1 the pollen filter is located below the scuttle plate on the passenger side, when replacing you need to ensure the winscreen sealing strip is replaced as the poor design allows water into the car via the pollen filter housing if this is not done. Any residue from the previous sealing strip needs to be removed and the window cleaned before a new strip is put in place. Is your passenger footwell damp?

^ This. The mk1 was (still is) a nightmare for leaking. Stupid scuttle design and placement of the pollen filter almost guarantees it'll leak water into the passenger footwell. Not always enough to be noticed, but enough that the interior mists up.

If this is, and I'd say it's highly likely it is, the problem, then you've got two options. Firstly, you replace the pollen filter, so you have a dry one, and you need to seal the passenger side of the scuttle to the screen. You're two options are go to Ford and buy the actual "strip" Ford supply (it's a foam strip with double sided tape on either side), or you bond the scuttle to the screen. When I replace screens, I bond the scuttle. The reason for this is the windscreen bond, a PUR type bond, doesn't degrade like the foam strip will, but also because to get the foam strip the stick properly is a nightmare on old manky scuttles, with years of dirt, grime and moisture getting under them.

You're best bet is to roll into a local Autoglass, ask them very nicely if they'd mind resealing your scuttle, and if they aren't busy, they will probably do it for you for nothing. Only takes ten mins and is ready to go soon as it's done (remove passenger wiper, 1 screw in the scuttle, and two plug clips under it and it's off > clean up, apply bond, refit, tape over and you're away)

As for clearing the moisture, you're best getting a simple dehumidifier (the plastic box thing with the sponge thing in the top) and leaving it in the passenger foot well any time the car isn't being driven - ie if it sits at home all day and overnight)

Lastly, keep the air flow on outside rather than recirc, and don't use the AC if you help it (AC running will create condensation on the pipe work behind the dash, and keep re-adding to the problem)

Of course, it could be your heater matrix on the blink, and slowly leaking water into the car, causing misting up. This should be apparent if the car is using water, but if it's real slow it might go un noticed.

Thanks for the advice guys, people have also told me it could be the heat resistance pack as the fan don't work on 1,2,3 so ice bought one of them of eBay to see if that will sort the problem out.
