ATM there isnt much around for the ST170 due the the ECU.. no ones cracked it!

how about a induction kit and exhaust for now, and wait until someone gets round to cracking the ecu...

I've just purchased a new ST170 also (well pick it up from Ford on Sat morn) - still got the RST at the mo, so will wait a while b4 thinking about tuning. But let me know / I'll let you know if I find anything out on tuning

Steve

Im not sure if there is a Decat pipe available yet, i know in the states the engine is the same as the SVT, there is a supercharger conversion for those as Dan says the throttle body's not gonna give much but might be worth a try

I'd like a Supercharger as I'm happy with the performace at high revs. It's just when at low revs when you pull away it feels like it's never gonna get to 20!

Have you had the latest engine management update? It cures the poor brakes when cold problem and makes it more lively. Mine runs better with the K&N panel filter, Ł35.10 from Halfords!

not sure about the engine management update, but my brakes are shit hot! all the time,
engine update may have been done at the last service about 9 weeks ago but im not sure as ive only had the car about 8 weeks, and im not sure as to get a new filter cos i dont want to void any warranty that i still have, which is about 17 months,so i supose i will have to wait for the warranty to run out before ant major tunning goes on
cheers

Well pleased with mine

Obviously hasn't got the balls out power of the old RST but is soooo smooth in compasion.

Pleased with how it pulls also - low down and in 6th. Its a bit flat mid range but above 4 grand it just pulls and sounds well nice. Generally it just what i want a smooth quite car but when you want the power you can slip it back a gear and go for it. Also you really don't realise how quick you are going in it.

BTW The brakes are bloody good on mine.

Just reading my comments above - oh how you get used to the power / bored with it. Sold the ERST now so hankering after another turbo powered motor - looks like the ST will be getting the chop for an RS.

m8 is the advert for the pipercross in this months performance ford.... is it a silver st being used to advertise it?

If it is then thats my car ..... piper based in ashford used my car to develop the exhaust. The exhaust improves the torque lower down and gives it better top end as well.

Yes bluefin is supposed to be out very soon as superchips. From the other forums it looks like only 10 -12 bhp and around 12-15lbs of torque....

Also try the latest map from ford AM it is making my ST fly at the moment.

st3v3..get yourself a better panel filter, the 2.0 litre auto deflector from Ford (Ł8). A new exhaust will not necessarily make it sound pants. Got a H&S custom job on mine from CAT back and it burbles bootifully . If you're considering a supercharger, then there may be no need to go the Bluefin route. I think the butterfly on the ST TB is 63mm, so a 65mm TB won't really give you any improvement, plus the one from Focus Central etc will not fit anyway as it's got a different mounting footprint. Think one may be in the making somewhere though

Update..just seen this.....http://www.focus-central.com/catalog...=1&sid=&pid=86

just fount this old thread looking for some tuning tipd for my bros st170

iv so far fount the millitek de cat/flexi pipe combo (10bhp apparently) would like to see that proven.
dreamscience or bluefin ( but gt motorsport in stoke made a great chip for the st and on average it gave 8-10bhp) so might use there.
piper fast road exhaust cam

think them mods should perk it up a bit, he already has a k&n panel filter

Stick a Vernier Pully on the exhaust cam and retard the timing should see you up to 10bhp, need to be set up on a RR though
If you want a more responsive throttle then port the standard item, its helps the engine pick up quicker, failing that there is a limit to the ST170's engine, its highly tuned as standard. With simple bolt on tuning you might get close to 200bhp but dont forget ALLOT of st170's are not running 170bhp as standard, it will be morelike 155-160, i have seen them as low as 145!!
You seem to be heading in the right direction, forget superchip blufin its pants, save for the dreamscience unit. The flexi and cat is the biggest restriction in the exhaust but be warned no cat will give it a pants exuast note and even a sport cat may not make it through an MOT. These cars are especially thirsty on fuel

take a look on here matey http://focus.c-f-m.com/.

Im pretty sure you could advance the timing and see up to 10bhp with adjustable cam gears.

The link above is very very good
