Default ST engine swap

Hi,

I have a standard 2.0 just now.

If i was to upgrade to an ST170 engine , is that all i would need; the engine.

Can I use the original gearbox, wiring etc

Cheers for help

You'd probably need the ecu as the ST170 uses the Black Oak ecu (there might be loom changes too).

Theres no "probably" about it ..!

Almost ALL the wiring is unique to ST170 (It's Yank) You would need 14K733 (Engine base wiring) including the hard-wired Bay fuseboard, 12A690 (Engine) and 9H589 (Injectors) Engine wiring, 12A522 from ECU to Engine/Fuseboard and Fuel Pump, plus there is a Pump pressure/volume control unit near the back, pump assy, plus box/remote .. AND you have to use the right stuff as a donor car could be (+) or (-) ESC(IVD) (Stability System)

Hope that makes your mind up for you ; )

Oh! .. and the Heated windscreen version of the 14K733 must be used if your car has one ; )

Well .. Yes .. but the old Focus doesnt use it!

The first one to use this ... fully .. is the new Galaxy replacement ; ))
New Focus and C-Max does ... to some extent.

I thought implementing CANBUS was one of the reasons the Black Oak ecu was being used, or is this just the SCi Mondeo and the ST170 is a halfway affair?

in the middle of fitting a focus rs engine to a 1.6 focus . the looms are different all the way to the boot so it is quite an involved job.

Yes ... Sorry ... Both cars use unique wiring.

The identifier for the RS is a 2M5O prefix on the wiring part number.
There are a few relocated items on RS, such as the Alarm (GT Alarms) module, using extended standard leads from sensors ; ))))) )

ST170 uses prefix of 2M5V on unique parts. (Which is most of it)
You need the floor wiring (14014) to connect up Premium Sub sound system for instance ; ))))
