Default Whos had a mk1 frs and a mk2 frs?

I currently have a mk2 focus. But I have a hankering for a mk1 focus Rs, do would sell the mk2 and get a mk1 and some money in the bank. What are people's thoughts.

You think I'd regret it big time?

I just think a mk1 is more of a drivers car and bring a focus with a Zetec it'll be easier for me to work on etc.

Cheers

Yup the mk1 one is more a drivers car... Less refined than the mk2.

If I was to get one Gaz, it'd have to be a clean low mileage 53 plate,

Thanks for the input, I'll have to get the number plate removed from mine and then sold

It's got low mileage and is a 53 plate mate. As much as I don't like the mk2 I wouldn't get a mk1. I don't think there not as good. What people make them out to be.

I like the MK1, always have since they have where new.

If your after a MK1 FRS know someone with a 10k mile minter, he is the 1st owner, never been driven in the wet, still smells like new. immaculate

He may be tempted for the right money.

Carnt comment on the mk2 andy but ive had a mk1 and it was stunning.

As said a proper drivers car, in all honesty it handled miles better than the evo's etc but i did find it boaring when driving normal, it was ok just like a normal focus (am sure that isnt a bad thing) but there isnt any spec in them that we all get used to , its literly two seats and a wheel.lol

The only thing i can compare is with mk1 focus and mk2, ive driven and repaired loads and you can tell the latter is more refined so as an everyday car fine but the mk1 is so much nicer and nimbler to drive.

So mk1 , wekend toy

mk2 daily drive!!

Similar thoughts here rick.
It'd be a daily driver too. But not constant use. If I don't like there is nothing to stop me from getting another mk2.

Rob, certainly be interested in something like that.

for me it would be the mk1 as it has more in common with the cossie been its raw, 4cyl and in my mind the last of the true rs fords. till recently i saw the mk2 as a volvo in a track suit but its growing on me. the thing that puts me off is the 5cyl 2.5 but they do sound good and look good in the right colour. i havent owned either btw but a mk1 would be nice at some point.

I own a mk1 and raced you in your mk2 and when you were sick as a parrot as you didn't win I thought you would have owned one well before now!

Yes but Richard, you claimed yours was a standard car, with a stainless.

When infact I think it's remapped on 1000cc injectors and a GT30

I'm looking for a MK1 FRS at the moment and if i had the money this would be the one i would go for, trouble is i wouldn't want to drive it in case i got it dirty and wouldn't want to stack the miles on it.

That car is stunning, although to good to use so not something I would buy. I like to keep my cars clean and well services, but I do like to use them as well.

Sadly i don't think you'll ever have much love for the mk1 frs with the lemon you ended up with.....enough to put anyone off tbh!
Have to say mine has been pretty much faultless, not the same luxury and toys as newer cars of the same type but as a drivers car once they're up round 300bhp, just awesome for fwd imo, and still got a good old boosty 4 pot !

Whats the spec of your mk2? Mines got 440ish hp and i love it.. Wouldnt sell it for anything else if I had to tbh.. A mk1 RS seems a step back tbh.. Its no more special than a mk2 and imo dont look as good.

So your 220hp-240lbs/ft mk1 Rs saw of a 350hp- 340lbs/ft mk2?

Your car weighs approx 1300kg..
the Mk2 weighs 1450kg i still find it hard how you can beat him if you only running a standard exhaust.

I compare a mk1 with a RST , not a bad car , but not great either

The mk2 was the best car i ever owned if im honest and i regret selling mine

I would have another mk2 in a flash but a mk1 would just be a ragg about car rather than a nice car to have

Having said that the mk1 can be bought for 5k now for a decent example so great value for money

I would sooner keep the mk2. I see the Mk1 as quite a big back step if you have a mk2 already. I'm done with old cars now I think.

Had a very heavily modded Mk1 for 2 years and now have a 400+ Mk2 and there is NO WAY I'd go back to a Mk1 unless I was seriously strapped for ŁŁŁŁ and had to release some funds.

Jay a terrible car that's won every award going. Are you on the same planet as the rest of us. Mk1 is one of the best cars I've ever driven. Sold my mk1 rs and constantly regret it. Pound for pound nothing gets close to a mk1 rs. Mk2 drives well but doesn't give you the same smile as you do with a mk1. As someone said above the mk1 focus is the last of the true rs's values will rise where the mk2 will never be worth as much.

Dont do it mate i had a mk1 it was a good car but comparing that to my focus st 225 i liked the focus st better esp with code red it was faster than my mk1 with dreamscience & i just liked it better all round , so i can only imagine the mk2 focus rs
will be even better than the st , all in my opinion of course

Own a mk2 in blue and wouldn't consider selling it for a mk1,as someone on here said before they look like a bald hedgehog.everybody has their favourites and opinions but the mk2 is a far better car in all departments.plenty of choice of low mileage mk1's about which means you can choose a car that's good.

The last true RS was the escort cosworth.. Nothing about the MK1 screams RS, if anything the mk2 got back on track with being more of an RS with its aggresive styling. All imo of course.

you have look past the blinkered rs ownership ! the mk1 had a shit diff shit suspension very tacky to look at both inside and out nasty seating position in short a flash rst like paul said going from a very refined mk2 to to that is just stupidity if its not for any other reason otherto put cash back in your pocket

Andy if you need the money releasing from the mk.2 focus then you have no option really.

imo, the mk.2 is a nicer car however there is a hell of a lot of money between the 2 cars as you know.

Well..... It sold today folks so no going back now.

I'll probably get a mk1. If I don't like if, I'll just get another mk2 but at least I can now afford to fix the escort and saff.
