Default 3 button key fob

hi folks just a quick question my 3 button key fob wont work even with a new battery if i was to buy a replacement off ebay have the serial numbers got to match?
found 1 but just the last letter is different

im not sure but i dont think they need to match its more of the key will need coding to your car and its not cheap

Programming can be done yourself, think as long as it's the same type of key, I.E on the same radio frequency etc you should be ok.

Put key in an turn ignition on an off three times without starting the car will beep then press ya key should sync

I thought the key prog system is to programing new pats keys not the remote setup?

No you can do both yourself, with the remote part you have to press button couple of times IIRC, whilst in learning mode.

nice one marti did not know that ! so if when i use my st200 engine an keys with remote I can re-prog that to my car ?

Rite lets get this right if I buy a key off eBay I can programe it myself?? How?
And if I get a ket cutter to cut my key it will Work?? So this can be done for about £20 were as for charge over £150???

got new key off the bay with the same serial number followed all the steps to program it but no joy
anyone hav any suggestions

I used to use a Jaguar S / X Type key on my old Mk1 Focus 5dr. Just programmed it the way it tells you in the manual. The Jag key worked on my 5dr but not on my 3dr for some odd reason.

just took the key to have it tested and its not sending a signal ? is the red led surpose to light up on the key fob coz mine isnt so this could be the problem

I recently worked on a Galaxy (Two button), don't know if yours is the same but be very careful, I tested the battery and it was fine, thinking it can only be the battery I got a replacement, fitted it only to find it still did not work, I found this very strange, I eventually figured out that there is in fact TWO batteries, when I removed the first there was a metal plate beneath which I thought to be the contact plate but once removed there is another one beneath, once this one was replaced all was well!

Yes red LED is supposed to illuminate when button is pressed!

iv checked and the focus key only has 1 battery
led isnt lighting so must b a bad connection cheers

yeah brand new also when i got the replacement key the seller added a new battery aswell
