Default Focus Hydraulic Tappets

Hi
Ive just removed my cylinder head and at my work place a fellow engineer came over and turned the cylinder head over to see where my head gasket had actually failed. As he did this the tappets fell out and now I dont have a clue where they go as they are all different thicknesses. I would really appreciate if some one could help. Thanks

Focus do not use hydraulic tappets they have solid lifters with shimmed adjustment.

What he ^^ said, they have solid lifters and are adjusted by shims.

Every one of them shims were unique to each lifter so you now have no idea of which goes were. Complete re shim for you, lots of measuring with feeler blades and get your calculator out. I would be tempted to buy new also, an inccorectly shimmed head results in top end noise and a lack of power

you can also run theses on hydrolic lifters but a little bit of machining is required

I don't see why you would want to tbh, obviously Ford thought the same as the Zetec-E until May 1998 were hydralic then they changed. The adjustment is 100K, hydralic lifters are inferior in my opinion.
