Default focus Speedo Clocks

Hi folks,

My Mates wife as a v Reg, MK1 1.4CL Focus that has developed the old 'speedo needle stops working' syndrome.

I've offered (if they can source a replacement speedo cliock unit) to change it for her.
she drove home today from work and the speedo didn't work at all. at other times it stops working intermittently.

Question is, if I swap the clocks, will the replacement speedo clocks show the correct mileage once connected?.

Is the mileage data stored on the speedo clock unit, or elsewhere?

Cheers

Andy

Its nothing to do with the speedo. Its a speed sensor in the gear box & a cheap repair at Fords.

Well, im sure mine went the same as yours but it was about 5 years ago.

As above it is most likely the speed senor in the gearbox, and they can be a total fucker to get out if siezed in!

Most likely the above, to confirm go around 10MPH and drop into neutral AND release the clutch, revs should raise to around 1400RPM. Mileage I am sure is stored in ECU.
