RS replica.....
Hello, sorry for the newbie qn. I am looking at making a replica of the 2009/10 RS. Damaged 2010 RS bumpers & sills seem reasonably priced from ebay, aftermarket wheels etc too. I know this isnt to everyones taste & the purists will be in shock at having such an abomination, but i have built replica Ferrari 308, 355, 360 and a replica Lamborghini Murcielago, so im pretty used to the responses!! I dont want the performance, I have my fireblade if I want to go hyper quick.
Like my other kits, I want the look of the cars without the cost & am prepared to sacrifice the performance to get it.
My main qn so far is - what difference is there between the 2008 standard focus rear quarter arch profile, the 2008 ST rear arch profile & the 2009 RS rear arch profile. I have seen the rear quarter fibreglass kits on ebay, but I assume they are for the Mk1 RS??
Also, what suspension drop would people recommend for this? Simple springs or coilovers? I have always used coilovers in the past on my other replicas, but would like to keep the cost down on this if possible & dont want to end up with a teeth chattering ride as its going to be my daily driver. How much hassle is there fitting the 19's to a focus? Outer arches wont be a problem obviously, but do they catch on the inner arch or any other parts under there?
Im hoping this should be relatively straightforward given that my usual projects include cutting whole roofs off & lengthening wheelbase etc, but is there any gotchas anyone can see that I havent considered?
Try not to rip me into too many pieces plaese!! Hehehe!

This is my 308
Wish that was my LP640 too!!
355 build - start with this
and this
and a bit of this
Bit of work & you get this
Still needs more work for final paint but all fitted and working, just needs to be red!
360, as finsihed as they ever are
Murcielago
Start with this
the odd small modification with an angle grinder
Bit of work
and you end up with this (needs more work and paint yet)
Blade in the snow!
Have my donor sat waiting for the 430 & parts on order.
In case you are thinking I may have just nicked a load of pics off the web & am talking out of my RS. Here is my drive a while back....yep I do get a few looks form the neighbours & I know I need to cut the grass!!!
Back to front - F355, F308, MGF, Murcielago, Elise 111S, CBR929 Fireblade.
So as you can see im a bit short of things to do & thought a Focus RS Mk2 would be nice as an everday driver!
So then, anyone know about those rear arches?? Or want to buy a fake lambo!
Wish that was my LP640 too!!

Luckily its a quiet street, they all know im into my kits. I do the building and spraywork away from the house now, but have to share the build area with some noisy neighbours of my own!
Stallions (the one eating the hay), dancin donkeys (the red ones) and raging bulls. Quite a task keeping them all apart!
The Murci is based on a Mk2 MR2 T-bar. Jap import turbo. New intercooler, exhaust, and a few tweaks bring it upto around 290-300hp which is respectable enough for most playtimes. Obvioulsy if you are into track work etc, this car is not for you!!
The whole top of the car is chopped off, the engine is removed, the boot is removed, the rear suspension turrets are remade 10" back from their normal location and everything is moved 10" backwards on laser cut plates and mountings which bolt to original hardpoints. The steel frame is then welded and bolted in with roll protection. That gives a structure on which the panels can be mounted. The panels are externally exact 100%. The bumpers sills and all bolt on parts will fit directly on the genuine (and are sold as replacement parts for genuines too)
Audi V8 engines drop right in so you can have the grunt to match.
Last one sold for Ł39,500. Not bad considering the donor was less than Ł2000.
Insurance is peanuts too, less than Ł400 fully comp on 5k limited miles.
That was one thing i wanted to ask about RS reps. Who is best for insurance? The ones i go with wont class the RS as a replica, but a 'normal' car with aftermarket bumpersetc. I dont want to have to pay loads on the insurance.

Oh well, plenty of interest in the other cars, but nothing about how to go about the focus!
So its been a while, but did get it done on my own! Well almost!
Just a few bits left on it, but as always just dont get the time to do them. Building Ferrari & Lambo kits pretty much full time now so this one never got fully finished.
Will be up for sale on here soon (need to upgrade my membership I think). Just after getting back what I have in it so far so someone will get a bargain.
Need the space for a new kit, totally new shape, not a replica, based on Nissan 300zx.
