Default help needed with gearbox

hi guys please help,

the diff went in my focus 2.0 so got a new box and fitted it.

the gears are different as in they go a different way(side to side instead of up and down, im guessing this is because the box must be from a 2000 model and mine is a 2002.

can i take the gear leaver and selector cables from the 2000 model and fit it.

the cables just dont fit right

you can get 2 different types

2000-2001 new box
2001-2005 mine

im guessing if the cables are changed it should all work as they are both mtx-75 boxes and off a focus just the selector cables are different lengths

anyone shed some light?? please!

you need the type 35 tower and linkage (1999-2001) now you have the early box in.

I've been through this on my diesel although it uses the same MTX75.

I swapped round the selector mechanism on the gearboxes from the later back to the early in my case. Saved having to mess with the cables.

Newer type shown in photo. Older type is a quick straight swap or was on my TDDI, hopefully the 2.0 petrol is the same.

Nice one mate that's just what I wanted to hear. I had the same idea and took the selector off the old box and they work the same way as in up 2 middle 2 down 2 so should be the same internals. Were see tomoz

Top bloke Colin!!
