Default Replacing 6006E 6 CD Player Focus Questions?

I was initially really happy with this player in my Focus TDCI Ghia, it is the best standard stereo for volume and sound that I have ever had. However recently it has started skipping and the sound breaking up. So I think I might change it, shame as I will probably have to ditch the steering wheel controls, and I guess I will need some kind of a mounting plate for the silly shape of the Ford item. My main concern is how loud the 6006E is, does this system have an external amplifier somewhere or is it just a fairly powerful head unit? I used to mess around with amps etc but cannot be bothered anymore, just find it hard to believe that I will buy an aftermarket head unit that will produce as loud a volume without an external amp. Does anybody have any ideas regarding this please?

6006e is just a powerfull unit i would just replace it or have it repaired
a aftermarket 1 you will need a double din to single facia but you can get the iso leads to plug into standard loom and aftermarket cd so it will work with your steering wheel controls all on ebay cheap as

Cheers mate thanks for the good advice. Just will have to research the head unit more as I am sure that different manufacturers offer better than others. I guess price matters a lot too, just really looking for something with front aux in, and front usb, and not some chavvy looking crap. Always used to like Alpine's dunno if they are still decent or something else maybe better.

Cheers mate tahnks for the advice. I was actually thinking of one of those as the SD card slot sounds like a real winner for mp3 storage

Do you use amps with it? Or just the head unit with the standard speakers? Would be just curious to see how it compared to the Ford standard head unit, as it sounds pretty good and loud to me.

I actually have Rich170's old Pioneer headunit in my Focus and it does sound very good, i have a 4 way 580W Pioneer amp in the boot bridged to a pair of Vibe speakers in a stealth shelf and JBL's in the front doors. I disconnected the standard rear speakers. Sound quality is very good but in the past i used to have Subs in the boot and since experiencing these nothing comes close to providing that crisp base line. Im currently looking at putting a single sub back in the boot, and ditching the Vibe speakers.
