Default Towbar confusion

Was going to fit a towbar on my focus estate 2002 51 plate and tow bars seem simple enough but the electrics are a bit confusing in that I dont know if i need a bypass relay - question is how would I know?

In one of the adverts i read there is this on Q+As;

Do I need a bypass relay kit?
Vehicles fitted with bulb failure devices or cam bus systems and LED systems will require a bypass relay kit. A 7 way bypass is designed for vehicles which have Multi-plex wiring, Cambus systems or Bulb Failure devices which where introduced around the year 2000. This bypass prevents any faults on the towing vehicle's light system by switching power directly from the vehicle's battery/alternator to the trailer/caravan light system, using very small signals from the vehicle's light system, without the vehicles check control sensors system being adversely affected

If there is anyone on here in Cumbria that is taking off a full unit then i may be interested in it.

Do you have a bulb failure warning panel ?, though I am 99% sure yours will be multiplex
wiring anyway, actually makes it simpler, not that much more expensive when you need a bypass, as it is nornally just a case of plugging it all in, with sockets and conenctors already on the car, any decent towbar fitter should be able to help so just ask, or pop into fords.

Thanks Tabetha I intend to fit my own rather than have it done by a fitter, have had cars in the past fitted with tow bars but this is the first i have had with plugs and sockets and pre drilled holes. I cant justify paying an extra £100 for a fitter to do the job - I have emailed questions to companies selling the kits but no answer yet, probably cause its been bank holiday!

what type of ball you using?? you need the fitting kit! 7 core cable etc,
£100 aint bad for the peace of mind and pro fitting, if you aint fitted on e before good luck-last question where are you picking your power supply up from????? -----------if you dont know this-DONT FIT!!!!!

Hi
Double electrics - dedicated wiring system ie: plugs into the wiring loom via passenger side rear light - standard wiring sockets for caravan.
I did think about buying a cheap splice in kit but was told that a dedicated kit simply plugs in. I have pulled the left rear hatch off the rear passenger side of my estate and the plugs are already there.
I was told maybe someone could tell me, that if I buy the dedicated supply leads that plug in the all is in the kit including relays if I need them.
Have looked under the car and on the net to check that the pre cut holes in the chassis are for the towbar and yes they seem to be, so maybe I have answered my own questions!
Fitting - yes I would have it fitted professionally for peace of mind but who makes £100 a hour max - I don't, if it were £50 then maybe I would consider for piece of mind.
