personally i would never have a mk1 st they are known for lots of sensor issuses and are not exactly quick by todays standard! ford said they were 170bhp but most come out 160ish or 170 with some mods, and 5k is alot for a 8 year old car!

Get a CTR for horsepower in a hatch, supercharge that. If you want a good drivers chassis get a focus its not all about speed off the line but the speed you can carry on any given road. Ive owned a CTR and now have an ST170, the ST is quick enough but steers sooo much better than my CTR did. The gearbox is a let down they should of stuck with a five speeder the Civics was pure class to use.

I had a ST170 previously, such a let down. Underpowered for the chassis, poorly built, sensors always go up the chute etc
Had no end of problems with mine, bought it for £6k 3years ago and that was on an 52plate. I personally think £5k is alot for a 02 model....

I have an ST170 and i have not had a problem with it at all, never had a sensor go wrong, most reliable car i have ever owned, just the clutch went. Lovely to drive, very refined but as standard they will get shown up by allot of cars. I had to throw around 2K at the engine of my ST170 to get it to where it is today and its still not broken 200bhp and it never will not without forced induction. Mine is lots of fun though, save up get the RS.

mate a s2 dont compare lol.
completely different power.
one has a turbo, the other doesnt.
i had a 2x s2 escorts. one with 190bhp 200 torque.
i now have a st170. i brought this car for the comfortable factor and nice looking but nippy car.
my s2 felt like a beast

watch out for cat bracket bolted to block this can snap, causing rattle.Sometimes dash lights don't come on, switch off, then back on (common fault).Touch wood, good around. What colour is the focus you're going for ?
