Default st170 ehaust????

ok i have an st170. im new to it because i used to own a escort rs turbo

im looking at getting an exhaust.

i just want one that sounds nice and helps slightly with performance (by the way im not stupid and im not expecting 5-10bhp gains etc etc lol)

but i dont want a decat because that just pisses about when coming to have MOT DONE u know what i mean.

so CAT BACK OR BACK BOX????

IMO if u gona do it i wud go for the full catback as u wont get any gains from just back box. Im not sure how gud the std st170 catback system is as the car is a tuned up 2.0, so if its sound maybe just remove a silencer. I know the manifold and cat are good as the cat is a sports cat and is gud upgrade on 1.8/2.0.

If you decated, it wud be easy enuf swap cat over as its seperate from manifold, but sum people do report loss in bhp with decat.

Sum1 may cum along and correct me, but this is from wot i seen from m8s cars and what iv read

Go for a Magnex,i have one on mine & it sounds great! Works better with a good induction kit,i have PiperCross Viper on mine and i don't half growl! Pops n bangs too when ya floor it in 1st n 2nd then let off the gas! Failing that go for a Milltek for quality.Give Pumaspeed a call at Wakefield they know their stuff! The Ford cat is crap (600cells) it kills performance,i have a Milltek cat welded into my de-cat pipe, its a bit of a bodge job but its passed mot for last 3 years so must be ok,had that done at Pumaspeed. Milltek are designing a new sport cat for the ST170,using my car as a test car for this, but not sure when it will go into production as its early days yet! Hope this advise helps ya mate, good luck........
