Default Brake light fuse on '02 focus TD???

hey guys, all the brake lights on my focus have stoped working, changed the brake light switch and still nothing, according to the haynes manuel and the diagram in the glove box fuse 53 is the 1 for it, but in mine it's just blanked off. any ideas where else it is? i checked under the bonnet fuses and their all ok.
Or any common faults on these?

Check you have current at the switch with ignition on, as it may be a break in the wire to the lights themselves, put a live supply to the terminal on the switch to identify current in and out, ie which one goes to the lights you can always put a live to here from somewhere else if need be, it may just be a broken wire going to the rear.
