Default Focus RS Antifreeze?

Just bought my Focus RS and was reading through the Service guide it says to change the coolant and timing belt every ten years.

After speaking to a few folk they reckon thats a bit long.

Any thoughts??

Timing belt is warranted for 100,000 miles from Ford.

Anti freeze is indeed good enough for 10 years.

However..................

Cambelt tensioners tend to go way before the belt does which is outside of the Ford warranty (but does all the same damage as a broken belt would! ) so most people tend to get the job done sooner.............some as soon as 50k but realistically around the 80 - 85k mark. You'd be damned unlucky to have one of the pair let go before then (although you can say that about most mechanical failures).

Chances are you'll tinker with the RS, wind the boost up and need to do the headgasket at some stage so you can just change the coolant then for new stuff

Cheers for the info dont need to get it done for a while then .

Typical ford warranty!

As i would think it would cost a bit. Seems as soon as there is an RS badge the price goes up.

But its well worth it!!
