Would you not get a better fuel consumption then say if you where sat doing 70 on the motorway 6th will be a higher ratio then the standard 5th there for less revs needed to maintain that speed so better fuel consumption?

So it could well be worth it

I've just done this with my Ghia 2.0l.

You have to change everything from the crankshaft to the wheel hub/knuckle (exclusively) including gearlever and cables.

A few minor niggles as well such as clutch hydraulics, heater hoses, reverse switch.

Oh, also as the VSS reads the FD pinion rather than a dummy speedo drive gear, the speedo overreads x3. So you need a re-calibrator. I used a SpeedoHealer, but that needs some extra bits as its designed to work with motorcycles. According to the manufacturer cars are abnormal!
