Default Life Expectancy

What is the life expectancy of the 1.8 Zetec Lump?

Mine is on 91,000 miles and has, as far as I know been regularly serviced and maintained.

I'm thinking of introducing it to a track some time next year, when its finally roadworthy. Do you think the engine will take a thrashing or am I just asking for trouble?

yeah well depends how its been driven.
I have had mine for 2 years and im not sure how its been driven before i had her but was running sound.
I have given mine death the past 2 year as i did aim to run it into the floor and get somthing else but she has taken everything i given so kept it, so along came a trackday at donnington park and she loved it.

O mines on 121k as off this weekend

Thats Re-assuring!

It was owned by my Dad since 40k, hes treated it well, never worked it hard from cold and serviced it regularly.

I have never worked my hard from cold always made sure she was warm, also she has new oil every few months to as she drinks the stuff like most zetecs so its always fresh.

But many times i bounce of the limiter in every gear and she keeps smiling and does not give up.

Mine is on 117k now, severl trackdays done and I thrash it on a regular basis

All I've ever done is regular maintenance, oil gets changed every 5-6k and its always warmed up before I properly let rip.

So far I've had no problems, oil pressure is good, it doesnt use any oil and its not noisy at all
