Default Focus RS water temperature question

What's considered to be the 'normal' water temperature for a standard Focus RS? I ask because I had the chance to go around Cadwell yesterday with a mate and thought that the temperature was a little high as it was hovering around 100 deg C but on the way back the temperature was still typically between 95 to 98 deg C during normal driving.

Thanks.

They normally sit around 96-99C, then occasionally fire up to 101C (to which the fan automatically comes on) when given a good pasting or sitting in traffic too long....

TBH it depends, my SPA gauge which reads off the top rad hose sits at 88-90 deegrees, but my scangauge which reads the ecu data off the block sits at 98-100.

Hmm, looks to be normal then and obviously set up for emissions rather than performance.

I wonder if there's any merit in fitting a lower temperature thermostat and lowering the fan on/off settings

If you had a stratagem unit you can lower both low speed and high speed fans
But it seems they do run hot so nothing to worry about.Copes o.k.

I think I'll be able to find the fan on/off settings without the expense of a Stratagem Only 60 thousand plus lines of code to rummage through at a guess.

Ouch, was it a standard engine and do you know why it failed?
