Does the car stall when the speedo drops ?

If so then its the vehicle speed sensor (vss) about £25.00 from fords or £75 ish supplied and fitted.

Mine does the same, it does it for a short while every now and then, seems to lose a bit of power too.

I've heard that it could be a management fault, some of the earlier cars had a glitch in the software that was sometimes sorted by Ford while at a service.

Ford will reprogramme the ecu for you, at a price (unless you know someone there!) not had it done myself as never got round to it, plus my mate doesn't work there anymore, so no freebie

My car did the same apparently its a common fault anyway i bought a new speed sensor £20 from ford and its like new now, no speedo drop or cutout or loss of power, but the pin had stuck in the box it was a pain to do.

yup, VSS, the speed sensor that sits in the gearbox. Almost every focus in the country suffers from it

Can be a bitch to do!
