Default Focus RS MOT problem...

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a 53 focus RS which he bought from 4 months old. He has recently put it in for its first MOT and it has failed because oh high emissions due to no catalytic convertor. Is there no way a Focus RS can pass an MOT without a cat?

Anyone got a used one they want to sell?!

Ross

I have still got my original FRS cat, it had only one years use then I changed to a sportcat which I recommend your mate does. The standard cat is way to restrictive and he will lose performance with cat.

Hi

He has already agreed a sale on the Focus RS so he is just after a cheap way to get it through its MOT. Want to sell your original one?

It doesn't matter if it did pass the emission test. For an MOT certificate it has to have a cat fitted during the test, dat's the law.

Of course it maybe that the 'cat' is an empty can.

Don't forget that the whole MOT testing and certificate generation is 'on-line' although at least it's not plugged into the diagnostic port to confirm vehicle ID.........yet.
