Default AP Racing brake kit

They finally arrived, took about 6 weeks so hope they are worth the wait.

Hey Dunccos, what you think of the red calipers?

Got them through Woodford Garage Motorsport they run an advert in performance ford mag. Not sure about putting Brembos on back but I wouldn't thought so as 90% of the braking is done at the front of the car and you wouldn't want the rear end to lock up.

Those brakes are just gorgeous - after I have worn my EBC's out I may have to consider these!

Just out of interest - does the new set up weigh much more than the standard discs/calipers? Just thinking about the increase in the cars unsprung weight and any effects this may have on handling - especially away from the track and on bumpy back roads etc.

I'd have to weigh them both to see, but I'd imagine they would be a wee bit heavier as the discs are 355mm as opposed th 325mm. I can't see there being much differance in the caliper weight.

If anything the extra weight might give me extra grip as the weight is right at the wheel.

Who did you ring?

Dunccoss has already fitted them to his FRS and had no probs

Phone AP Racing direct and they will tell you the kit part no that fits the car.

I havn't fitted them yet as I have to clean and paint the mounts due to exessive rusting. Got the old hammerite out I'm also painting the rear calipers red to match the fronts, more work I'll post you some more photos of where I am now.
Also removed the arms to send them off to Vibratechnik to have torque steer reducing bushes fitted. Should help with the exessive torquesteer that the FRS has.

In fact look back the pages of this forum and you'll see dunccoss's car with the kit fitted. It's on this page just a bit further down NEW AP'S FITTED WITH PICS

Yep NathR is right and like I said before just look down the posts on this page and you'll see that they have been fitted under standard rims.

The title of the post is AP's Fitted with Pics.

I know it's the wrong post but does anyone else get exessive torquesteer!!!

Ive got 300 bhp in mine and i get hardly any torquesteer!! It could just be down to the boost controller.

Not slaging anyone off just wanna see what other peoples cars are doing

You guys must live near smooth roads, I'm up north east scotland where the nearest duel carrageway is 36 miles away. Most of my driving is done on lower "A" roads and "B" roads where under heavy acceleration the bumps and rutts play havoc with the car as the quaif diff is always looking for grip.

I phoned the guy who's car featured in PF magazine to ask if the Vibratechnic torquesteer bush conversion was worth it and he said yes definetly. He also said to get Vibra technic to fit the bushes, so I' guna give them a try to see how I get on.
