Default 2002 zetec automatic gearbox problem

Hey guys.. Ive been searching all over the internet for causes and solutions for my problem and I can't really find anything that matches my problem..

So anyway as of yesterday, my transmission started acting weird.. It stuttered really badly trying to speed up from 0-50km/h and soon after that I saw a transmission light on the dash, and 30 min later an engine light. Later that day I tried going in reverse and while holding the brake the car started to vibrate strongly accompanied by a rumbling sound. It stopped when I let the brake go.

Today, I found out that the car didn't accelerate at all because instead of starting from first gear when taking off, it started from third and I have no idea why. Went to check the engine code and It was something like "Transmission solenoid E".

Any opinions ?

So.. nobody has a clue what the problem might be apart from the solenoids. Well I ordered them and I am actually still waiting for them to arrive. Will see what happens in a few days

Also the car shook violently when its in gear and im holding down the brake.. Could this be a bad clutch or maybe a solenoid controlling the clutch ?

as silly as it sounds ive read atlot about auto transmissions on the net and the solution to alot of their problems seems to be a simple fluid and filter change. Use Fords transmission fluid and see if that helps.

been reading about the BMW autos and they have same problems, BMW claim they are sealed for live yet Landrover use the same boxes and say change the fuild and filter every 60k!

seems the fuild age and dirty filter have a lot to answer for, you may find you change the solinoids and the problem has gone because you have had to change the fuild and filter whilst you did the work?

well my solenoid kit and filter arrived (those things are hard to find nearby so i had to order them from usa) and im taking the car to a shop soon.. will write here when i see if that solves the problem..

the filter was never changed and the car has like 65k km so I guess it might have something to do with it..

what happens if i put like some no name brand fluid in the trans ? it seems oem and big brands are hard to find where i live

any oil that is simillar to the ford Sepcification will be fine, do not use a synthetic oil in the gearbox as they tend to "slip" more and then you will get further problems with heat and changing gear. just need a good quality minieral oil.

below are the equivialnt oils that could be used or anything simmilar to their spec.

GM Dexron IIŽ
D Ford MerconŽ<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Allison C3, C4
Ford ESP-M2C138-CJ<o></o>
GM Type A Suffix A
Ford ESP-M2C166-H<o></o>
ZF TE-ML 03D/04D/11A/14A/17C
MB 236.1, 236.2, 236.3<o></o>

Physical Characteristics<o></o>
Appearance Red<o></o>
Density at 15 oC 0.872<o></o>
Viscosity at 100 oC, cSt. 7.1<o></o>
Viscosity at 40 oC, cSt. 35.8<o></o>
Viscosity Index 154<o></o>
Flash Point (Open) oC 210<o></o>
Pour Point, oC -40<o></o>

thats weird.. this is from the valvoline website (they make mercon v which i think is synthetic and not a blend)

Is it OK to mix synthetic ATF with a conventional and/or synthetic blend ATF?
Yes. Synthetic ATF and conventional fluids are 100 percent compatible with each other.
